Rock Chick is the first book in the Rock Chick series by Kristen Ashley. Here is the blurb.
Indy Savage, cop's
daughter, rock chick and used bookstore owner, has been in love with Lee
Nightingale, once bad boy, now the man behind Nightingale
Investigations, since she was five years old. No matter what ingenious
schemes Indy used to capture his attention, Lee never showed an interest
and Indy finally gave up. Now Indy's employee, Rosie, has lost a bag of
diamonds and bad guys are shooting at him. When Indy gets involved, Lee
is forced to help. Complicting matters, Lee has decided he's
interested, Indy's decided she's not. But she can't seem to keep Lee out
of her life when she's repeatedly stun gunned, kidnapped and there are
car bombs exploding (not to mention she's finding dead bodies).
Indy's
best bet is to solve the mystery of the diamonds before Lee. Lee's
challenge is to keep Indy alive and, at the same time, win back her
heart.
So this is my second Romance book and my second Kristen Ashley book and once again I thoroughly enjoyed it. I adored Indy although I freely admit that she is stupid. She is also a free spirit rock chick and this is what I love about her, but she does put herself in ridiculous situations that she has to be rescued from constantly and this is why I don't give this book full marks. As with all Ms Ashleys books we have another hot sexy uber alpha male with Lee Nightingale that bosses his woman around, but this is what we want from a romance book isn't it? We are also introduced to some great secondary characters both male and female that make up the other books in the Rock Chick series.
I found this to be a really fun read that kept a smile on my face and kept me turning the pages. I'm so addicted to these books that I get very little done especially sleeping. As I said I would give Rock Chick full marks but Indy's stupidity has forced me to knock half a star off thus giving Rock Chick 4.5 stars. If you like Kristen Ashley then I don't think you will be disappointed.

I haven't read anything by this author before, but it sounds like I'm missing out-Rock Chick looks like a bucket load of fun. I'll add it to my tbr list, thanks Claire.
ReplyDeleteDitto on the sleep deprivation. I'm having to control myself more.
