Bound To Me by Jocelynn Drake

The Dark Days was an awesome dark Urban Fantasy series written by Jocelynn Drake and told the story of a Nightwalker (vampire) called Mira and a vampire hunter called Danaus.  The series contained 6 fantastic books and it ended last year so imagine my squeals of delight when I found out that Ms Drake had written a novella titled Bound To Me about Mira’s life prior to the start of the Dark Days.  Bound To Me is set a few hundred years before we meet Mira in the first book Nightwalker and it tells us a story about Mira and her then lover and fellow Nightwalker Valerio investigating the murders of Nightwalkers in Madrid.

Bound To Me is a little gem of a book.  It was wonderful to read about a younger Mira and to see her with Valerio.  From reading the Dark Days I had always wondered what had gone on with those two.  Ms Drake gives us a completely different Mira, she is not as in control of herself, is pretty vicious and very naive to the goings on with the Coven.  Ms Drake also writes this book differently as there are plenty of hot scenes with Valerio something which some people found lacking in the Dark Days.  Reading this book has reminded me how great this series is and if you love dark Urban Fantasy and haven’t read it I highly recommend this series.  If you do like the Dark Days you will not be disappointed with this book.  I would like to thank Ms Drake for writing this novella it is like a precious gift and I am going to give Bound To Me 5 fangs.
