Sins Of The Sons by Linda Poitevin

Sins Of The Son is book 2 in the Grigori Legacy series by Linda Poitevin.  This Urban Fantasy series follows the story of Angels and Fallen Angels and the Armageddon that is on its way.  At the heart of the story we follow the life of homicide detective Alex Jarvis who can see Angels.  Alex is a descendant of the Nephilim, a race of beings that were created by fallen Angels having sex with mortal women, and for this reason she is pretty special to the Fallen Angels who all seem to want a piece of her.  For the past 6000 years, since he was cast out of heaven, Lucifer has been biding his time and adhering to the treaty he has with the One.  The treaty states that the Angels and Fallen Angels cannot go to war until the treaty has been broken.  Well the treaty was broken in book 1 and Lucifer can now go about brining Armageddon and killing all of the One’s precious mortals, however Lucifer is still biding his time and he is building an army.  There is a possible saviour of course and that saviour is in the guise of the Angel Seth Benjamin whom we met in Book 1.  However Seth has fallen for Alex and he has decided to become mortal for her and in this transition he has forgotten all that he is and all that can do.  Sins Of The Son picks up three weeks after Sins Of The Angels and follows Seth’s story on Earth.

It is essential that you read book 1 before reading this book as nothing will make sense to you otherwise.  Sins Of The Angels ended on a cliffhanger so I was eager to read this book to find out what happened next and I can tell you I was not disappointed.  The first page of Sins Of The Son gives us a surprise and it doesn’t stop there until you turn the last page.  Where book 1 read as a cop mystery/thriller this book is all about the Angels and Armageddon that is fast approaching.  A lot happens so you need to concentrate, there is a lot of history to cover and I still have questions about what happens and how things can be.  This time the story is set in Vancouver instead of Toronto so we don’t see some of the characters we met previously but we do meet some new characters.  I have to say that I really like Alex, she isn’t one of those stupid females who does crazy out of character things just to move the story along.

There is a bit of a love triangle going on with Alex and her supposed soulmate Aramael and Seth, however for those of you who don’t like love triangles I can confirm that it does get resolved….well sort of.  There are plenty of shocks and lots of action and a great ending that has me chomping at the bit for book 3.  If you like UF then this is the book for you and I am going to give Sins Of The Son 5 stars.
